ISO: Coconut Custard Pie

Misc.
My Grandmother made a coconut custard pie (in the 40's and 50's) with fresh grated coconut that I have tried to make for years without a recipe. You know how it goes, it never tastes like "her's" - not even close. Obviously she made everything from scratch. I'm not too worried about the crust - mainly because I don't seem to be able to make a decent crust no matter how hard I try and have resorted to the ready-made which seem far better than mine but I would really appreciate any information on the pie itself and a decent pie crust as well.
