ISO: crab imperial menu

Misc.

I'm having a special dinner party for my siblings and sibling-in-laws, and I'm planning on using my mother's recipe for crab imperial, which we all love and have fond memories of. My problem is, Mom always prepared it with side dishes that seem too heavy and filling for our current diets.

I'm looking for suggestions on elegant, but easy to prepare side dishes that complement crab imperial. I want it to be special, but not too exotic, as some siblings are less adventurous than others!

My boyfriend can't be here, so I'll be cooking and entertaining "by my lonesome" so it needs to be something that doesn't require a lot of last minute fussing. Any ideas would be tremendously appreciated, as the clock is ticking (dinner is this Friday!) Thanks.
