ISO: Easter Egg Nest Bread - question

Hello. I'm a novice baker, but would love to try this for Easter (have 12 young kids coming over for Easter brunch) I'm sure the kids would love this! Unfortunately, 3 kids are allergic to almonds, I want to know if I can sub it for something else (2 kids have all nuts allergies) or would omitting it, change the taste? Anyone tried this recipe before? Appreciate the help.
