ISO: (for Cathy) Japanese Teriyaki Sauce?

Misc.

Cathy,

I wonder whether you could help me with this recipe? We always get a homemade
teriyaki sauce from a dear Japanese friend. (His father owns a resturant here.)
We do NOT dare to ask for the recipe because the father is very big on "family
tradition". We don't think that he will let us in on his family secret... This
sauce is quite think, very different from what you get in the bottles from
Japanese grocers. I.e. the Yamasa has one but really is not nice at all...
Does your mother make her own sauce or just buy a commercially made one? I
posted a same question to a guy who is married to a Japanese lady on a NG
before. But he told me his wife only buys the bottle ones... LOL...
Appreciate for any suggestion...

regards,
