ISO: Gladys...Re: Plantains

Could you give some simple instructions for frying the plantains? The ones I have eaten were sliced, but I don't remember how thick, also do you fry them in butter or oil or do they have to be deep-fried? I prefer to use as little fat as possible, frying isn't my forte.
The chicken looks wonderful and I am planning on fixing it today. The plantains will depend upon my skills at hunting them down in a very culinary-limited community. Thank you for any help on preparation.
