ISO: Italian Cookie Recipe

I am looking for an Italian cookie recipe that my Grandmother used to make at Christmas time. It was made of a sweet dough. Hand-rolled into a rope 1-1/2". Then cut into 1-1/2" pieces, baked. Then when cooled she applied a confectioner's sugar glaze or drizzled with warm honey; then sprinkled with colored sugar sprinkles. I've been searching for years. It would bring great joy to my family to have a bit of "Nona" back in our life.
Please reply, I can almost taste them now!
