ISO: jewish hostess gifts

i have been invited to a party in december hosted by a Jewish friend, by reading the invitation this party has a Jewish theme, i admit ignorance other than potato latkes (which i love) on any traditional Jewish hostess gifts. I do not want to show up empty handed, this will not be a formal dinner party, more of a cocktail get-together. can anyone give me some ideas on what to bring.
