ISO: Perfect Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

Misc.
Since my mother is getting older she just can't handle the big Thanksgiving dinner for our large family. My sister and I are chipping in on cooking detail for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I know this is one of the simplest things to do, but I want to get it right like Mom's, or my brothers will razz me all evening. Any hints or recipes for spectacular Mashed Potatoes and Giblet Gravy?
