Recipe(tried): More gravy tips

When using flour to thicken gravy, I usually brown the flour slightly before adding it to the reserved fat. It is simple to brown gravy in a dry non-stick pan. Just turn the burner on medium heat and stir the flour until slightly browned.

Also, if you find your gravy is too thin for some reason, you can thicken it using instant mashed potatoes.

You can also thicken gravy by mixing cornstarch with water and adding it slowly to the gravy.

If you have made your gravy and think it is too light in color, add a touch of instant coffee.

Remember you can make your gravy ahead of time and reheat it before serving. It is best to heat it on the stove top -- the microwave tends to enhance the salt and pepper flavors and alter the taste.
