ISO: Pickld Brussel sprouts - question

I made these and was kinda confused because it says that the recipe yields 9 half pints..am i confused or what. My recipe yieleded about 8 pints but i had to make up about a cup more of the liquid part because there wasnt enough to divide between the jars. I will admit i didnt really measure the sprouts that well but pretty close.
