ISO: potato dumplings - question

Hi Richard
A number of nationalities make the homemade dumplings. Would you be willing to tell us what nationality (ethnic origin) your Grandma was? As far as I know the Slovaks/Czechs/Polish/Germans/Hungarians have their own way of preparing the dumplings; some were rolled into sausage-like forms and then cut with string; then dropped into the boiling water; some were made like a batter or even a biscuit-like dough and dropped by spoonsful into the water.

Any information you can share would help us out.
