ISO: re canning pesto

Can I ask why it isn't safe? I am not being smart, I am truly curious...lol... other than parmesan cheese, I don't see any problem. I would love to make pesto as gifts but of course won't if it isn't safe. I believe you. I just like to trouble shoot for any future projects.
