Hi Laney,

That's a good point! I would pat the layers down as hard as you can then mix the remaining flour and sugar and put it in a zipperlocked baggie to give along with it (you can make a pretty fabric pouch for the baggie if you have the time). Happy Baking! Betsy

I am trying to make sugar cookies in a jar for Christmas gifts to go along with cookie cutters--I started to make this one--followed the directions, but how in the world do you fit 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 4 CUPS dry ingredients in a quart jar.
