ISO: strawberry preserves-need help Quick!

Misc.
I would like to make strawberry preserves without the pectin and have a recipe for it. What I would like to know is if I can quadruple the recipe to get the whole batch done in one cooking as it takes 40" to achieve a good set! Please if anyone is out there and knows the answer I would be grateful!
