ISO: vegetable beef soup (not ground beef)

My mother use to make a vegetable beef soup and ground up the vegetables. I know that she put rutabeggy in it but have no idea what spices etc. She left the meat in small chunks. We added celery salt before eating. I believe this was a german recipe. Please help. need to make 6 qts. of soup for church supper. This would be different. thank you.
