Thank You: Re: What Are You Serving For Thanksgiving?

Misc.

We're having 16 for a buffet dinner (a lot of them like to watch the football games while they eat). We keep it informal, but still make it feel special. One of my challenges is that my sister and my sister-in-law's husband are both diabetic, so I have to have some foods that they can eat, too. We also try to have an equal balance of "rich" foods and lower-fact choices. And everyone contributes by bringing a dish or two. Anyway, here's the menu:

Roast turkey (of course)
Stuffing (my mom's recipe, made by my sister in a separate casserole)
Boursin mashed potatoes (recipe from the Butterball turkey website)
Sweet potatoes with apple cider and dried cranberries
Plain baked sweet potatoes, for those who can't have the sugar
Steamed broccoli
Braised vegetable melange (carrots, mushrooms, pearl onions, peas, snow peas, baked in a sherry sauce--another one from the Butterball website)
Jello mold, cranberry & apple sauces, relish tray
Corn muffins, home-baked bread
Desserts: a couple of sugar-free Weight Watchers pies (my sister's making them) pumpkin pie, apple pie, brownies (for the kids, mostly)

Enough food for an army!
