Thank You: Thanks Carolyn!
Misc.Hi Carolyn.
Thanks for letting me know. I thought it might be something like that. When I saw all of that apple cider vinegar in the original recipe I was reminded of a "Medieval Dinner Theater/Concert" we attended around Christmas several years ago. It was a great time with good food (turkey legs, HUGE baked sweet potatoes, fresh baked bread, and wassail are all I can remember) served medieval style (no utensils). Most of the program was Christmas music punctuated with small speaking roles that required audience participation. Early in the performance the "King" made a toast with his wassail. He took a swallow and the stangest look came over his face, but he didn't say anything. The audience followed suit, and it was the same thing. We all looked at one another, but didn't say a word, but that was the awfullest wassail I have ever tasted! All through the show he kept toasting with his wassail. We all cringed (as he did), then politely took a small sip. Finally, he couldn't take anymore, and when his line came up again he made a joke of it and invited us to toast with the spirit of Christmas rather than that vile tasting wassail! As it turned out, the people preparing the food had mistakenly purchased apple cider vinegar instead of apple cider as called for in the Wassail recipe. I don't think I will ever forget that night! It's a Christmas memory that always makes me laugh.
I hope your Thanksgiving and Christmas will be filled with lots of loving, happy times.
Brenda
