Anise bulb or fennel?

Misc.

I think they are one and the same. The root can be thinly sliced, braised in
chicken broth and butter and goes great with fish. My neighbor layers the
leaves with fish and grills it, which is also quite good. I like the bulb,
sliced and eaten raw as a snack like celery.
