baking soda as I read somewhere that soap can leave that soapy taste on everything. I also get the goo, it's usually from rotting vegs. (sounds gross, I know) - I use very warm water and the baking soda and just scrub and scrub. A tip that makes it easier - if you can remove your fridge shelves, put them in the bath tub and clean them there.
