Citron

Misc.

Angel,
According to Craig Claiborne (a well known chef and cookbook author here in the States, citron is a kind of LEMON. Its best-known use is in its preserved or candied form, chopped as an ingredient for fruit cakes.
However, as I continued reading in his "Craig Claiborne's New York Times Food Encyclopedia", the Jewish community uses a "fruit" known as esrog, or ethrog, and it weighs up to five pounds. It is used in ceremonies.
Back to what I know about citron, the first paragraph is closer to my knowledge. It is used along with other dried fruits, etc., in fruitcakes and I believe a Dundee Cake is a sort of fruitcake. Hope this helps. You could probably buy it through the mail.

Karol
