Cooking Light 5 O'Clock Challenge

Misc.

Here's a contest I just ran across.

Good luck!

Betsy

Cook up $10,000 for dinner tonight in the Cooking Light/Healthy Choice 5 O'Clock Challenge.

It's 5 o'clock on a weekday, and everybody's thoughts are starting to turn to dinner. What will be cooking tonight at your house? Get creative, because your answer to that question could win you $10,000 in the Cooking Light/Healthy Choice 5 O'Clock Challenge.

We're looking for the best quick-and-easy recipes our readers can whip up, both for our September 1999 cover story and as the centerpiece of a major festival we're busy putting together for spring 1999. It's called GrandStand '99, and we'll be taking over the Atlanta Braves' Turner Stadium to help Americans ring in the new millennium on a healthier, happier note. The weekend festival -- whose date gets set in August, when the National League completes its 1999 Major League Baseball schedule -- will showcase the latest culinary and fitness trends, as well as some of the people who are making them hot. Keep your eyes peeled for more details in upcoming issues.

In the meantime, all recipe entries in the Cooking Light/Healthy Choice 5 O'Clock Challenge are due no later than October 23, 1998. We'll fly 10 finalists to Atlanta to compete for the $10,000 grand prize (the first runner-up gets $4,000, and the second runner-up $2,000). Judges will be rating recipes -- ideas include main-dish stir-fries, pizzas, cookies, trifles, snack mixes, kebabs, and anything else you can come up with -- based on taste, originality, lightness, and how well they make use of a Healthy Choice ingredient.
