cuban milkshakes?

What a lovely description! Now I have a question for you...my college roommate was from Miami (but not Cuban) and she always used to chuckle about "Cuban milkshakes" which I could swear she called something like "trigos." (However, that word or something similar means "wheat" in Portuguese, so I suspect either she had it wrong or I later misremembered).

Anyway, the milkshakes were supposedly made with tropical fruit and so much sugar that it was almost laughable - that was why she always chuckled when talking about them. All my life I have been curious to try them, but have never come across anything like that.

Can you shed any light on this?
