Debbie D re stoves

Misc.

Our stove conked out a year ago. It is a Sears Kenmore/GE. I have always been
happy with Kenmore products. We have a house full of them. However, my old
stove had removable stainless steel burner rings which you could remove, put in
the dishwasher, soak & scrub. My new stove has a glass surface with sealed gas
burners which cannot be removed and boy do they get dirty! Because the stove
is white even when you boil water they turn brown. I am sure that the enamel
will wear off because of scrubbing. I'm stuck with it now so I may have to
resort to lining the burner well with foil. Oh well, at least I don't have to
clean UNDER the top surface anymore! I must say though that the oven does heat
quickly and it's been fine in all other respects.

Also my sister had a Maytag stove that was a lemon and was eventually
replaced. I bought a Maytag washer and dryer a few years ago. The dryer broke
within a short while and that was with light to medium use. On top of it I
had to pay for the new motor and the labor as it was just out of warranty!
After cajoling, they sent me $50 for my trouble. I thought the machines would
be reliable and that the company would stand by their products. After that
experience, no more Maytags for me.

Sorry, I can't tell you what to buy but I can only share my experiences with
you.
