Granny Church's Greens Remind Me of Home!

Misc.

David, darlin',

Enjoy your peace between visitors -- they can be a caution (as in "Caution, Do Not Proceed Beyond This Point).

Miz Trish and I were recalling childhood foods not long ago and we discovered that we both grew up on dished like this; however, for us it was green beans. If fact, not long ago I cooked up a huge pot and just 'bout cried with every mouthful! Home cookin' is just the best thing in this big ol' world!

Glad to see you back, all safe and sound, darlin', and tellin' all of us more stories 'bout dear Granny Church.

The pressure cooker diaster was a classic! The only other story I know is about a cook at a logging camp who either confused his cooking times or make some other kind of error and the pot blew to kingdom come, sailing through at least one upper floor and then out through the roof. Nobody was injured, but the kitcken, or what was left of it, was a mess. (I do believe that the insurance adjustors were not terribly amused by this event as well!)

My Momma, on the other hand, whilst making 7 Minute Frosting, turned her back on the improvised double boiler and the whole thing launched itself like a rocket straight for the kitchen ceiling. When I came in the door, there was frosting all over the kitchen: ceiling, floor, counters and appliances (maybe even the dog for all I remember). There, in the middle of this mess, stood my Momma just mad as a wet hen and muttering things I did not believe were possible.

A few hours later, it was all clean and non-sticky again, but this adventure became known as "Momma's 7 Minutes in Heaven" for many years (just not to Momma's face, you understand).

Thanks, darlin', for some lovely memories; sure do miss those times, too!

Cheers!
