Your recipe reminds me of when I was a young bride just moved to Texas. There was a whole bunch of us young brides that lived in the same housing complex.
Once a week The Vegetable Man would drive into the neighborhood, and he must have taken pity on us young gals because he'd sell us a big paper grocery bag stuffed full of mixed greens for 25 cents. I had never cooked greens before, so he and one of the gals explained it to me, pretty close to your recipe. I'll tell you, I couldn't wait for the pinto beans and rice, I just plopped a big clump of greens on my plate with butter and...yum! (Guess you can say the beans and rice was my "dessert"!) To this day, when I cook greens, seems I can't get enough.
