Hi Kathy,
Don't today's pressure cookers have safety features to prevent those explosions now? I grew up using my mom's old pressure cooker, and I heard about all my aunts' having that problem of the explosions. Graham Kerr uses a pressure cooker with an oval lid to prevent such mishaps....I wonder if it really works? Mom always said if you take the top thingy (not the lid) off the valve and let all the steam run out first, you'll never have that problem. We never did.
