I had a Presto cooker for 20 yrs. and recently purchased a new Mirro 6 qt (because it is wider). I use my cookers mostly for tenderizing tougher cuts of meat and love it for fresh veggies. I can cook all kinds from potatoes on down by starting with the longest to cook veggies and quick cooling in between adding other veggies according to their cooking times. I use a steamer basket and save all the water AND VITAMINS IN IT, freeze that and add to soup stock later. We don't like mushy veggies so some only need to get to the point where they start to cook and I immediately take them of the burner. Broccoli and snap beans and asparagus are perfect this way. It beats the pants off a microwave for the above.
