Oh, no pandan flavoring in small towns!!

My apology for not reading your post propery... No, the pandon flvoring isn't common... It's called screwpine leaves in English (pandan leaves)... However, some Asian grocers do carry the leaves in their fridge if you are lucky... Then you can make the axtract yourself... The other 2 item, the almond and vanilla axtract(essence) are common in all supermarkets... You will find baking is much easier in the US than in Singapore (and much cheaper as well!) However, if you like the Malay kuih (sp?) and other Southeast Asian baked goods/dessert/sweets, then you'd better be prepared coz you will be very diappointed for not being able to find good substituts... Thus, you may want to buy some pandan flavoring with you (but I dont' know if you are allowed to bring that into the US...) But you can always try. if the custom check takes it out, it's only few bucks, right? No harm for trying, right? But since you are going to be there for only few years, why not trying out the western food? I waas in the US for 5 years when I was in uni and now I really miss the blueberry pie and the stuffed pizza and etc... ^_^ Anyway, come to visit us here on TKL and we might be able to help you...
