Recipe: Strom Thurmond's South Carolina Salad (fruit salad with cooked dressing)

Salads - Fruit, Gelatin
STROM THURMOND'S SOUTH CAROLINA SALAD

3 egg yolks
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp salt
Juice of one lemon
3/4 pint heavy cream, whipped
1 lb. white grapes, seeded
1 (1 lb.) can peaches, cut up
1 (1 lb.) can pineapple chunks
1 cup miniature marshmallows
Lettuce leaves (for serving)
Pecans (for garnish)

In a double boiler, cook egg yolks, mustard, salt, and lemon juice, stirring constantly.

When egg mixture is cool, fold in whipped cream, mixing well. Fold in fruit and marshmallows. Refrigerate 24 hours.

Serve on lettuce leaves, garnish with pecans.
