Misc.
Meg: Thanks for your interest.....and everyone elses, too!! Our business will be called "A Fine Pair" with the fruit "pear" as our logo.
Since Zoe is a bit shy and just wants to be in the kitchen....and since I am such a people person (I'll be out front with the customers)and love to bake(I'll be doing that after hours) and am more of a Pastry chef......we make a fine pair!!!!LOL

We are looking at a location now in South Asheville near the Biltmore Village on Hendersonville Road. It is a 1920's home that was converted into a business years ago. It will need some remodeling and a bit of sprucing up and the former tennants have gone bankrupt and will not vacate the premises until the end of the month.....I figure we should be up and running by January if we get the lease.
We will have some retail gourmet items, lots of "food to go" items that people on the go can come in and get for last minute entertaining; and a section of vintage cookbooks and some vintage hammered aluminum serving items. We'll sell some new cookbooks and lots of our "In House" goodies, too.

We will have about 8 tables (4 persons) in the front two rooms for lunch and early dining. Our food will be very upscale.....not at all diner food, but more the fancy entre salads, specialty sandwiches, continental entrees, and fabulous desserts, of course. We will primarily be a "gourmet-to-go" operation for the busy housewife who wants a good, healthy meal for her family.....but wants an alternative to the drive up windows. I keep saying we want to become their "on the way home cuisine" LOL!! We also want to become Asheville's finest caterers!! Zoe and I both specialize in elegant, fine cuisine. I would much rather arrange my French pastries on a gorgeous silver tray and make "out of this world" displays of food for all occasions......Zoe is so very talented at this style, too!!
WE ARE SO ANXIOUS TO GET STARTED and are very busy writing our business plan in order to make our business loan!! I do HATE paperwork and would just like to give the banker a great meal as proof of what our talents are!!LOL We'll keep everyone posted as to our progress....
Sorry about the tomato stew, Claudette....that is something I've never come in contact with....now if you were asking for some Fried Green Tomatoes with a remoulade dipping sauce...well that I could offer you great recipes for!! That has become a regular offering as an appetizer in many of the local restaurants in New Orleans...Thanks, ya'll for the warm welcome. I've missed you all, too!
