Re: Black and Blue

Misc.

I could not get over that ending, either! It was so disturbing. Like you, I thought her husband probably would find her, after her son called, but never dreamed that he would just take the child and she'd never see him again! How awful.

About Rapture: it's probably just me being hypersensitive about the way Southerners are usually portrayed. Plus the fact that I had *just* finished Where the Heart Is and it was so incredible - anything would have suffered in comparison.

Did you hear that Willie Morris died? He's from Miss., not far from where I live. He wrote My Dog Skip, New York Days, Good Ole Boy and many others. He had a heart attack Monday night and died. I almost had a heart attack this morning myself, when I read it. Poor thing. He was only 64. Ellen Gilchrist, Kaye Gibbons and Winston Groom (Forrest Gump author) are going to speak at the funeral tomorrow.

I checked out Songs In Ordinary Time but haven't started it yet.

I will have to look for Girl's Guide and Honk and Holler. What is Oprah's most recent book in the club??
