re: cake in a jar

The canning jar company doesn't recommend baking in the jars because they may break. They are not meant for that kind of heat treatment.
Some people still do it, though. It is just a risk you need to be aware of. Also, you can bake them, don't "seal" them, put the lid on and either put in fridge and eat within 2-3 days or for longer storage, they need to be frozen.
