Recipe: Coke Salad (using cherries, Coca Cola, pineapple and nuts)

Salads - Fruit, Gelatin
I've not personally made this yet. But I did get the joys of eating it a lot growing up. A lady at my church named Sister Netty made it for a lot of church dinners and functions. I was blessed to get a copy of the recipe in a church cookbook in 2009.

COKE SALAD

1 (16 ounce) can crushed pineapple, packed in juice
1 large jar cherries in water (or one 14 1/2 ounce can)
2 packages (3 ounces each) cherry gelatin
1 1/2 cups Coca Cola
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup celery, chopped

Put pineapple and cherries in saucepan. Bring to a boil.

Put (dry) Jello in large bowl and pour hot pineapple and cherries over Jello; mix well. Pour cola over mixture. Add nuts and celery.

Let set in refrigerator until congealed.
