re: Old-Fashioned Cookbook
Misc.Try "The American Woman's Cook Book" by Ruth Berolzeimer, first published (as well as I can tell) in the 1930s and still in print ($499 for the hardcover edition from Amazon.com; paperback and used editions considerably cheaper). It contains "from scratch" recipes for everything from alligator pear salad to opossum roast to zabaglione. My copy is the 1974 edition and contains 876 pages.
