re: pressure canners
Misc.Jenny, What size is your pressure cooker? Generally, a pressure CANNER is 16 quarts or larger, most Mirro are 21qt and Presto are 22qt. Pressure COOKERS are usually in the 4qt to 8qt range and are not recommended for pressure canning. You can use them as a water bath canner IF you are able to cover the jars with a minimum 1 inch or more water and do not close the cover. Generally you will be able to use pint or half pint jars as long as they are covered by water. Also , the jars must be on a rack or something to keep them off the bottom of the pot. Hope your apple butter project turns out. Lee
