re: Pudding as filling

Carrie - your box of pudding should include directions for using it as pie filling. This usually means adding less milk. At the very least, I would follow those directions. If it still comes out too thin to use as a cake filling, try folding in some whipped cream or Cool Whip. You can also vary flavors and colors by stirring in dry Jell-o powder. Good luck.
