re: Substituting canned minced clams for fresh clams

I try to use about 30 cherrystone or little necks when I do clam chowder from scratch. I think you would need at least 4 cans to make up that much and don't drain them, the juce makes up so much flavor in the chowder.

This is just an estimate on my part since I've never used the cans - also, does your market/fish department carry the fresh minced clams in the plastic tubs? I would like those used in preference to the mini cans of clams.
