Rose, This is what I do with extra apples!!!

Misc.

Hi rose:

I would make cinnamon apple leather.

This is a great way to use up alot of apples and family loves even my husm=band gets this in his lunch and his workers are always asking him to bring more.

RECIPE CAN BE QUADRUPPLED IF YOU WISH:

one quart chopped apples, remore cores and seeds . Place enough water in blender so that the apples start to emulsify.

Should be like applesauce.

You can use a dehydrator or slower method is oven.

If using dehydrator just pour into 12X18" plastic wrapped tray and pour apples to 1/4" thick and dehydrate 2 days.

Keeps almost indefinately.

For oven method you need a large baking sheet, lightly greased. same applesauce turn oven to the smallest degree allowed and put tray in there bake for 8 hrs with oven door open,

completely cool next day bake same for another 8 hours until tough and not sticky.

Dehydrator method is easier!!!

to the apples you may love to try my variations I use:

one is:

to the apple mixture add 1/2 tsp Cardamon spice and one cup of soaked raisins (these are raisins soaked in water until soft).

Another:

Add 2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 cup honey

These are all 1 quart recipes!!!!

Another:

add around 3 minced up banannas it's great and delicious .

Hope this helps,

Oh also,

cinnamon apple potpouri

DON'T THROW AWAY THOSE APPLE PEELS!!!!!!!

take them and break into small pieces. dehydrate until tough, about 1 1/2 days then put in bag and shake in 2 Tbsp Cinnamon. leave overnight and bake on sheet for 1 hr on lowest oven setting again, door open. makes the nicest smelling potpourri around.

take care,

Kris
