Slickers

Misc.

My Grandmother used to make these and my Mother. Grandmother called these her
Depression Dumplin's because the ingredients are few and she could make them
for the entire family at a very thrifty price. Whenever she didn't have
buttermilk (which was rare because she had her own cows) she would use regular
milk and put a little vinegar in it to sour the milk. Grandma often served
these with chicken and mashed potatoes and fresh veggies from the garden. With
a family of 9 she had to plan meals that would stretch her depression coupons!
