Susan B. Anthony dollars

Misc.

We haven't done this every time, (with four kids, we don't always have them on hand,) but we try to keep several Susan B. Anthony dollars on hand (you can order them from the bank, since they are legal tender), and put those under the pillow when the tooth comes out. Sometimes, we just leave the tooth under there, and say the tooth fairy knew the child was very tired, and didn't want to wake her. We use SBA dollars, so the kids will save them, and not be as tempted to spend them. Once, my oldest had lost a tooth at school and didn't tell us, and hid the tooth under the pillow for almost a week, then said something to us, and wanted the tooth fairy to leave a note. I went over to the neighbor's and had her write an apology note, with the instructions that she always had to tell a parent, so we can signal her to stop. Now, they all make sure that we know they lost a tooth! I just cleared out a bunch of baggies from my dresser of little teeth, and put them away with my treasure boxes of kiddie items I'm saving for each one, sort of a time capsule.
