Hello, my detective friend! No, not a trace of cilantro in the sauce. I love cilantro -- but it's not in there. As I mentioned, one of the waitresses told me that the chef (yay! female) used bell peppers. Then she clapped her hand over her mouth and slipped away. I tried making a sauce with sauteed bell peppers, then roasted bell peppers, and finally roasted anaheim chilis. I got close, but no cigar. I just thought that someone out there must have a mother, or grandmother, or someone who might have made this in the old country style.

I hope that you and Blackie are having a nice time getting to know each other.
