Recipe: Tips for slicing a Dobosh Torte

Tips and Tricks - Cooking
Hi Melissa,

Here are the slicing directions for Figi's Dobosh Tortes (that looks very similar to Swiss Colony):

Slicing Suggestions:
- Slice our Tortes while still cold.
- Use a sharp, serrated knife to cut through the top layer of icing with a sawing motion. Then press straight down, pushing on blade with a non-sawing motion. Rinse knife with hot water after cutting each slice.
- Allow Torte to warm to room temperature before serving to enjoy its full, rich taste.

If that doesn't work, here are some other tips I've seen:

Have the torte at room temperature (but other tips say it will cut more cleanly when chilled).

Score where you'll be slicing before slicing through.

Use a very sharp knife.
- Use a oiled knife and have a paper towel with oil on it handy for wiping the knife.
- Or, use a knife dipped in water (I think that might make water marks).
- Or, try heating the knife blade under hot water for each cut.

Use unflavored dental floss.

I hope that's a help and if you have time, let us know what works for you!
