Recipe: Post Wedding Shower Ideas, Food, Decorations for Penny....

Holidays, Celebrations
Dear Penny,

I wish I were there to help you as I love doing parties! Here are some ideas on a Brunch menu, games/activities, music, decortions and favors for the Shower. Please let me know if you need any recipes that are "tried and trues" from my files. Keep in mind that many items can be bought from the bakery and/or deli. And of course, Costco and Sam's are wonderful for certain items.

FAVORS

Keep it simple and sweet, buy a jumbo bag of Jordan almonds from a super party-store and netting and ribbon. Bunch 4-6 in netting square and tie up. They can be put at each place setting or left in a basket, as guests leave, they take one.

GAMES /ACTIVITIES
Meet The Relatives....

Everyone wears name tags. Have place cards on the table, seating one of his relatives next to one of hers. Hang silly pictures (childhood and older) of the couple around the room to serve as conversation pieces. As for no gifts. Framed copies of the family trees would be nice gifts from the whole group.

The Price Is Right.....
Have 10 items and everyone gets 10 pieces of paper and a marker. The person with the closest guess to the correct price of the item, gets to keep it!!

Thank-you cards...
This isn't necessarily a "fun" idea, but it is a very helpful one for the bride. Buy enough thank-you cards for everyone in attendance at the shower. As the guests arrive, have each person fill out an envelope with their name and address. Tell them it is for a door prize. With each guest filling out an envelope the brides does not have to address her thank-you cards. They're all done for her. She can then send each guest her thank you to them for a memorable day!

Jumbled words...
Take 20 wedding oriented words, scramble the letters and let people try to figure them out. See who can unscramble the most in 45 seconds and begin to have out prizes..

Cutting Up...
Purchase a wooden cutting board and brand it with the couple's name and date to be wed. Then when guests arrive at the shower, have them sign the cutting board. After the shower, have it varnished. What a keepsake!

MUSIC SELECTION

Decorations

I would decorate the tables with Spring flowers arranged in bowls of water or you can put them in cans inside of wicker baskets tied with raffia or ribbons. The Buffet Table should be decked in white tablecloths and the bowls and platters intermingled with fresh Spring flowers in wicker baskets.

Have fun!!
