Recipe(tried): Wedding reception on a tight budget - I hope these help
Holidays, CelebrationsHopefully some of the recipes I sent you will be of some help. I tried picking out the ones that are relatively easy and cheap to make. Of course if family and/or friends are helping, you can have multiple people making a few batches of each or of one particular kind.
- Potato skins are always popular. Just cut them into smaller bite size pieces or into diff. shapes.
- Having a chocolate fountain is a great dessert idea, and just have some fruit, marshmallows, pretzels, graham crackers etc, which are all cheap and let people have a ball! You can rent a good size fountain if thats all you want to have, or you can buy a smaller one almost anywhere now-adays for about $40.
- Think of some of your favorite meals and make them into small bite size portions.
- Of course a veggie, cheese and cracker tray are always popular and usually your choice for cold appetizer at any wedding, before the hot ones come around.
- If you are doing your own tables, make sure you put some phone books, magazines or casserole dishes of diff. sizes under your tablecoths to create diff. elevations to put your trays of food on, instead of on a flat table. This way, you can decorate with some flower petals, votives etc. on the table to dress it up.
- Go on Oriental Trading.com and they have a little swan ice mold for under $10 and some nice decorations. You can also use christmas lights to decorate almost anything, inc. under your linens on your tables! If any friends or family have those fake ficus trees etc. ask if you could borrow them and put lights in them around the room or wherever you are having your reception.
- Look online for some wholesale place for champagne if you are not having a dry wedding. You can always substitute sparkling cider if you are going dry.
If I can help in any other way, please let me know.
