APPLE BROWN BETTY FROM 1932
This is a variation made using crushed graham crackers.
2 cups of peeled, cored, sliced apples
2 cups crumbled graham crackers (about 12)
cinnamon
butter
1 3/4 cups milk
In a buttered baking dish arrange alternate layers of crushed crackers and sliced apples sprinkled with cinnamon and dotted with butter. Add 1 3/4 cups of milk; sprinkle top with cracker crumbs and dot with butter.
Bake about 1/2 hour in a hot oven (425 degrees F), or until the apples are tender.
Serve with either plain or whipped cream.
Makes 6 servings.
