APPLE DUMPLING CAKE
3/4 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups plus 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon baking soda
1/2 tablespoon salt
2 cups applesauce
FOR THE TOPPING:
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup chopped nuts
4 tablespoons butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13x9-inch baking pan.
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together. Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Blend in applesauce and spread in prepared baking pan.
Mix together the brown sugar, the nuts, butter, and the remaining 4 Tablespoons flour. Sprinkle over top of cake.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-60 minutes.
