Apple Kuchen
KUCHEN
2 to 3 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 package active dry yeast
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup margarine or butter
2 eggs
4 to 5 medium apples, peeled, cut into
1/2-inch slices
TOPPING
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
In large bowl, combine 1 cup flour,
1/3 cup sugar, salt and yeast; blend well.
In small saucepan, heat milk and 1/4 cup
margarine until very warm (120 to 130 degrees).
Add warm liquid and eggs to flour mixture.
Blend at low speed until moistened;
beat 3 minutes at medium speed. By hand,
stir in remaining 1 to 2 cups flour until
dough pulls cleanly away from sides of bowl.
Generously grease 13x9-inch pan. On floured
surface, toss dough lightly until no longer
sticky; press in greased pan. Arrange apple slices
in rows on top of dough. In small bowl, combine all
topping ingredients; blend well. Sprinkle topping
evenly over apples.Cover loosely with plastic wrap
and cloth towel. Let rise in warm place (80 to 85 degrees)
until light, about 45 to 60 minutes.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Uncover dough.
Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and
apples are tender. Serve warm.
I also have a recipe that uses a bread machine for
the dough. If you would like it, give a response.
