I had one set of grandparents that we all called Mammy and Pappy.
Yes, my back is better, but I'm still trying
to get as much work out of my family as
I possibly can!! I threw a chicken in the
crockpot this morning on top of potatoes and
carrots and covered the chicken with herbs
and spices. I'll serve it with rice, baked
beans, and biscuit bread. This is an old
fashioned way to have biscuits fast.
Deb's Biscuit Bread
2 cups self-rising flour (White Lily is best)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 tsp baking soda
Buttermilk to make a soft dough that is fairly
sticky
or use sweet milk without the baking soda
Combine only until blended. The less you fool
around with it the better. Heat a black cast
iron skillet in the oven. Melt 1/4 stick butter
in the bottom. Pour batter in hot buttered
skillet. Bake until brown at 425.
Lovely and good enough for company.
You guys have a great day!
