These are yum, yum cookies!
BON BON COOKIES
FOR THE COOKIE DOUGH:
1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
Food coloring (optional)
FOR FILLING AND ICING:
Maraschino Cherries
Chocolate-Coconut Mixture (recipe follows)
Chocolate or Vanilla Icing (recipe follows)
Mix butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt; mix well with hands. Tint dough with food coloring, if desired.
Wrap 1 teaspoon of cookie dough around maraschino cherry or wrap cookie dough around 1 teaspoon chocolate-coconut mixture.
Place cookies close together on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake cookies from 11-14 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool.
Dip top of each cookie into icing.
CHOCOLATE-COCONUT MIXTURE:
1 square (1 ounce) melted unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup shredded coconut
Mix together.
CHOCOLATE OR VANILLA ICING:
1 cup of confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
Food coloring (optional)
Mix together. Add food coloring to frosting, if desired.
For chocolate icing add 1 square of unsweetened chocolate and 1/4 cup cream to the 1 cup of confectioners' sugar.
