Recipe(tried): Butternut Balls - Christmas decorative edible item

Desserts - Cookies, Brownies, Bars
Not sure what the little white balls were on the tree you saw, but you could probably get the same affect by using Russian Tea Cakes (also known as Butternut Balls) Here is my recipe:

BUTTERNUT BALLS

2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup walnut meal (finely ground walnuts)
1 cup margarine or butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Combine flour, salt and walnut meal.

In separate bowl cream butter gradually adding confectioners sugar and vanilla. Combine both mixtures. Roll into small balls.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 10-12 minutes. Cool a minute or two then roll in confectioners sugar.

You can use toothpicks to attach the butternut balls to your styrofoam tree. Good luck!
